To mark the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence in 2022, the WGG Consortium members, CREA, International Women's Rights Action Watch Asia Pacific, and Akili Dada, will continue its ‘Your Protection Doesn’t Protect Me’ campaign. With partners in Bangladesh, India, Kenya, Rwanda, and Uganda – this campaign will celebrate stories of resilience and perseverance from gender-based violence (GBV) survivors, activists, and organizations defying protectionist approaches. The personal and collective narratives shared during the campaign will reaffirm why protectionist approaches do not work and the realities we wish to see instead.
Through this campaign, we call on feminist movements, policy makers, legal bodies, and institutions to dismantle structures of ‘protection’ and ‘criminalization’ and find anti-criminalization and rights affirmative approaches to end GBV through meaningful dialogue with people most affected by it.
